The name ‘Burapa’ (accent on the final a) is a Thai variation of a Sanskrit word (pu-ra-bvaa) meaning ‘from the orient’, to reflect the origin of our products.

About Us

We are a family-owned and operated company that buys and
makes products in Asia and retails them from Ottawa, the capital city
of Canada. We personally hand-select all our products and have many
specifically made for Burapa Asian Perspective.

Products are selected on the basis of aesthetic and design value,
 originality and uniqueness.

Some years ago, as our personal collection of social, cultural and
religious items had grown beyond our personal needs, we decided
to open a shop/gallery to share our appreciation and understanding
of Asian aesthetics.

We are continually identifying and designing new products, as well as
adding to our collection of Asian antiques.

Since November 2003 we have operated our retail store from a heritage
building in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market.  As of July 2008 we
closed our physical store as our manager went back to university
full-time, and we decided to solidify our online presence.  This will allow
us to extend our reach so more people can appreciate the products
we’ve had so much pleasure discovering and creating.

We will happily ship products to many areas of the world as indicated in
our Shipping page.

Moreover, if you are located in the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal area, we
can make special arrangements for shipping our larger and heavier items,
such as furniture.

We have lived, worked and been educated in Asia, and still travel widely
there, personally selecting and buying items that will add their own
beauty and tranquility to a western lifestyle,
and, of course, visiting our family and friends – as Vadi herself is Thai.
